Age Concern NZ: Age Concern has worked to promote the rights, wellbeing and quality of life of older people, koroua and kuia since 1948. As knowledge and experience has grown, Age Concern now has the wider purpose of promoting healthy, active ageing to people of all ages. Alzheimer’s NZ: Alzheimers New Zealand is a support and advocacy organisation for people with dementia, their carers, family, whanau and community. Dementia is a neurological disease which affects memory, cognitive function, personality, emotion and quality of life. Throughout this site they use ‘dementia’ as an over-arching word to describe a group of diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, frontal-temporal dementia, Pick’s disease and less common types.
